The City of Pittsburgh is located in the State of Pennsylvania. The city has a population of around 335,000. The population of the surrounding metropolitan region is 2,358,695. The population is chiefly comprised of Caucasians who are 67.63 percent of the population of Pittsburgh. The median age for the city of Pittsburgh is thirty six years with nearly 88 males for every female over the age of eighteen years. The household median income is $28,588, with 20.4 percent of the population being below the poverty line. The one attractive feature of the city is that it has the lowest property crime rate and a violent crime rate that is lower than the violent crime rate in other cities of comparable size, population and diversity.

After the collapse of the region's steel industry, the city’s economy is primary dependent on high technology, such as robotics, health care, tourism, biomedical technology, finance, and services. Education plays a big part in the employment industry, from primary schools, specialized professional institutes and highly-ranked universities.

The current median home price for Philadelphia metro is $108,000 which is well below the national median price of $217,900.
